After everything the Pod Squad has been through, they should realize that if they have faith in each other, they can overcome just about anything. But what happens when you lose hope? That is the dividing line for our characters this week.

This week was all about mixed messages and the vast difference between what is said and what was understood.

This week was about loss. Lost opportunities, lost history and, more palpably, the loss of loved ones. Luckily, there was also hope.

This exemplifies what I love about the show. Plot is driven by conflict. Here the conflict, of which there is plenty, never feels manufactured. It is always rooted in character.

With great power comes great responsibilities. It looks like the Pod Squad still needs to define who and what they’re responsible for.

Timing is everything. And six months of peace and quiet allowed the Pod Squad to settle into their version of normal — Hatch Day Parties and all. Unfortunately, things never stay quiet in Roswell for long.

The finale is the culmination of all that’s come before. The resolution of at least this phase of the characters’ journeys and the answer to the narrative questions posed at the beginning of the season. How did this one hold up? Each of our characters began the season alone and searching for meaning. Some by choice, others fear, and one through ignorance. It may have taken a murderous megalomaniac, but they have learned how much they need and value each other.

"Okay, look, can someone please tell me how screwed are we?"

Holy crap! I’m so glad we don’t have to ponder over that ending for a week.

Roswell, New Mexico: 2 Became 1

Where is your personal line in the sand? How close to (or how far over) it are you willing to go for what you believe? And how do you hold on to hope when all appears lost? This episode may not have been Roswell's typical drama-filled episode, but don’t let its slow pace fool you. It set the emotional stakes and moral dilemmas our heroes face in what promises to be an action-packed two-hour finale.

“Whatever happens next. That’s in your hands.”

Everyone’s journey seems to converge this week as the search for the missing ET transitions into an alien intervention. Isobel, Michael, and Max all need Dallas’ assistance with various aspects of the Jones problem. Whether he’ll listen to their Cosmic Tale of Woe long enough to be persuaded is another story.

How do you define home? Is it a place, a feeling, an idea, or maybe a person? There are as many ways to define it as there are people walking the Earth, and it appears each member of our merry band is in search of their personal definition.
