666 Park Avenue: Lazarus

"There is a price to pay for the thing we want the most."

And we're finally done! It's unfortunate really but even though the series finale has come and gone, I won't miss 666 Park Avenue one bit. This was one catastrophic disaster of a show.

666 Park Avenue: The Elysian Fields

"Stop acting like you're in some western."

Oh lord, that was utterly groan-worthy. You'd think 666 Park Avenue would be bringing out the big guns now that it's been cancelled but this was a particularly horrendous hour of television.

Discussion: Spoilers in the Age of Immediacy

Here be spoilers!

Due to the nature of this article, it contains spoilers. I decided that any show that has aired in the US until today’s date is fair game for discussion. If, however, you are spoiler phobic, open this article at your own risk.

666 Park Avenue: Sins of the Fathers

"What's a little pain between friends, right?"

It definitely feels like we're rushing towards the finish line now. Although it's not very well executed, you can feel the writers trying to raise the stakes and rearrange the chess pieces for some sort of final showdown.

666 Park Avenue: The Comfort Of Death

"This is just the beginning, Jane."

ABC pretty much cancelled 666 Park Avenue a couple of weeks ago. However, the four remaining episodes (including the series finale) have started airing in Australia and are thus pretty easy to find online. I owe it to the show to finish the season as it doesn't look like the network will be burning off the episodes before the summer. After watching this hour, I have to say it already looks like things are moving in the right direction.

666 Park Avenue: Hypnos

"Take me to her, or I take you to the Drake."

Better but still not good enough. I don't think 666 Park Avenue will ever really tap into its full potential until its series finale in a couple of episodes. It'll probably be epic enough to make me feel disappointed the show got cancelled, but so far 666 sort of deserves the fate it got.

666 Park Avenue: What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?

"Really, father? I love churches."

I'm glad 666 Park Avenue went ahead with the radical development of Jane's disappearance and return. It adds a much-needed element of intrigue and mystery to the proceedings (which is sad as that's all the show should have).

666 Park Avenue: Downward Spiral

"Gavin lets you out of the gilded cage every now and then. Hasn't the gold started to lose its luster?"

This always happens; a show gets cancelled, and in the same week manages to churn out a pretty good episode that gets you thinking about "what could have been". Really I should have seen this coming and while I'm not saying the show didn't deserve the axe (it did), I have a feeling I might be disappointed by the time series finale comes along (that is, if the forward momentum can be maintained).

666 Park Avenue: Diabolic

"You think I'm crazy?"

Before this episode, I had considered 666 Park Avenue to be a stupid show. I know that sounds harsh but the show was wasting its monumental potential with lazy developments and half-cooked plotting. While this hour wasn't phenomenal by any means, it was nonetheless a much more intelligent episode than what I'm usually accustomed to with this show.

666 Park Avenue: A Crowd Of Demons

"You've seen the look Olivia gives us if we use the wrong salad fork. I have no interest in crossing that woman on Halloween."

Well at least that was something! 666 Park Avenue is still painfully slow and unexciting, but this hour at least displayed some sort of forward momentum accompanied by some average thrills.

666 Park Avenue: Hero Complex

"I don't care what zip code you come from, you're your own man."

What a mess this show has become (and we're only four episodes in). I really, really wanted to love 666 Park Avenue. It's got one of the best casts ever assembled for a television series and a spooky premise in a fascinating backdrop. However, the show just squanders all of its potential with every passing episode. It should be kicking ass by now but instead, it's just slogging along never really culminating into anything more than passable, disposable TV.

666 Park Avenue: The Dead Don't Stay Dead

"Clearly he doesn't like people breaking deals."

Now we're talking! 666 Park Avenue is slowly yet capably finding its identity. However, the sad thing is I'm unable to fully enjoy it since it's pretty darn obvious the show is going to get cancelled very soon. The ratings are just too abysmal for it to even last a whole season which is so unfortunate. With a cast this stunning, it would be a shame for this show to become nothing more than a failed memory.

666 Park Avenue: Murmurations

"I have to cook for billionaires?"

Much better. I can finally see how 666 Park Avenue will look like week to week. The irony of course is that the ratings are terrible and the show probably won't even last a season. That's a pity because I thought Murmurations was a welcome improvement over the pilot.

666 Park Avenue: Pilot

"Why would anybody ever want to leave this?"

666 Park Avenue has all the ingredients for one heck of a killer show. It's got a New York setting (a city I can't get enough of), a creepy premise, and one jaw-dropping cast. Really, if the show ends up misfiring, it would be quite the embarrassment. Thankfully, it looks like this supernatural drama could end up working, with a few adjustments.

666 Park Avenue

Season 1 | Cast

Terry O'Quinn as the devil married to Vanessa Williams? It sounds better than it actually is. 666 Park Avenue was a somewhat ambitious production that stumbled out the gate although it was positively brimming with potential. The optimist in me never lost hope, but the show effectively squandered a spooky setting and one of the best casts ever assembled for a television show.
